Using Contacts causes Outlook to hang

I have a user whose Outlook is constantly hanging whenever he clicks the To
button on a new e-mail message form and tries to select a name from his
Contacts list. It doesn't matter whether the Contacts List or Global Address
List is the default address list. If he goes directly to the Contacts folder
and selects new message to contact from the Actions menu or right-clicks, no
problem. We have run the detect/repair; uninstalled and reinstalled O2K,
created a new profile and even swapped out PCs. He continues to get the
'Outlook.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows' error
message. We have found nothing on the MS KB or TechNet that helps. There are
no add-ins. We are really stumped with this one. Any ideas/suggestions would
be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

This is a very common problem which Microsoft claims they cannot reproduce
and therefore cannot solve. Anecdotal reports claim the following may help:
1. Look for and correct a corrupt address in the Contacts displayed in the
Outlook Address Book (especially if the crash at the same place when
scrolling).
2. Remove then re-add the Outlook Address Book Service or, better yet,
create a new Outlook profile.
3. Update your video drivers.

Most people seem to find no solution.
