Using CD.RW on windows xp

I cannot get any files or music to copy onto some cdrw as
it says insert disc into drive
someone suggersted re formatting my cdrw help ?????

Did you buy unformatted disks ? May just be plain format. Look at canister
they came in, if still available, to see.

There is no such thing as a preformatted CD-RW, or CD-R or
any other kind of CD. What do you mean, "Maybe just
plain format"?

In Control Panel, the drive letter for CD burning has in the right-click
menu the option to format a disk. I assumed that was what this was for,
like what one did with diskette in Drive A.

No it isn't. You only format CDs in advance if you are going to use
them with 'packet writing' methods, like Direct CD or InCD, and the
inbuilt burning does not work in that way.
