Using an Email address starting with "#" results in a "554 illegal
address syntax" error message. A national "listserv" address I am
part of starts with #[email protected]. Prior to about 3 months ago I
had no problem emailing through the listserv. Since then I get:

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

'#[email protected]' on 12/02/2003 12:26 PM
554 illegal address syntax: <#[email protected]> Failed

What is the fix??????????

Thanks,

The fix is to get the listserv administrator to change the address - '#' is
not a valid character in an email address. The fact that it used to work
before just means that the server you were sending through didn't care
whether the address was valid or not, but your current server does.
