using a widescreen tv as a monitor

I have recently bought a widescreen tv which also has a conventional pc
input.
I have connected to my PC (running XP) and it works just fine but I just get
a 4:3 image in the centre of the screen. I have a ATI Radeon 9200 graphics
card which I have looked at but the setting don't suggst anything that might
help.

So what I am asking is,

1) can I actually use the full screen
2) is this set by the graphics card
3) if so, can the 9200se handle it
4) if not, what else can, for under 40-80GBP

thanks!

Look for the program Powerstrip. It should let you reduce the black areas
around the screen.

Also, when changing screen resolutions, does the black area size change?

Have you play any 4:3 TV show in your HDTV? How did you handle the
screen? If you have "Full/Normal/Zoom/Wide Zoom" in the screen display
option try "Wide Zoom" when displaying the PC screen to see any
improvement.

Good luck!!

I can stretch the picture if I want - that's no problem, but I want the PC
to actually use the correct 'shape' display. Can that be done
