users i w2k server and shared folders

Hi

I am trying to set up a peer to peer network with win 2k
server to share some folders. The users I have set under
users in computer management are exactly the same as when
they log in through the client computer. Still they have
to log in once again to get access to the shared folders
on the server. I think that I have set all the permissions
right under the properties in the shared folders. The
clients are w 2000 prof. and XP home edition. What have I
forgotten? Is there a simple step by step guide on the net
for this?
I am very new to this so if there are some clear answers I
would appreciate very much.

Thanks
Chris

Me again
I will try to bee more precise.
It is in a workgroup environment where the clients are
windows XP and windows 2000.Under computer management on
the server I have set the user name and password exactly
the same as how they log in on the client computer. They
are all in the user group. With some client there is no
problem to gain access to the server and the shared
folders. To some others they have to log in again through
a dialog window (same username and password again) when
they try to access the server through the network.
There "seems" not to bee any differens in how I have set
up their username on the server. I have tried different
protocols but I think TCP/IP would be enough on this
network. I just don't get it. What am i doing wrong?

Each computer even the server gets its IP from a DHCP
router that also lets every computer gain access to the
internet is a simple d-link router all firewall rules are
to the WAN side and should not effect anything on the LAN
side.

What I am trying to share is:
Folders on the server.
A folder with files that a program installed on each
computer needs to access.

Hope this will make make a picture of my problem.
