User's Home Folders (personal drives) disappearing in XP

Each user account in the Active Directory has a Home folder or personal drive
associated with it. Whenever a user logs in, the Z: drive is automatically
mapped. However after I upgraded people from Windows 2000 Pro to XP Pro,
we’ve seen these Z: drives mysteriously disconnect. No service packs have
been able to fix this. I’ve worked around the problem by creating shortcuts
to the folder on the server on people’s desktops or by having the user logoff
and then back on again this always seems to make the drive reappear.

Has anyone experienced this? Any help is appreciated.

Jay, I am seeing this exact same problem. Your post has confinced me that
this is a Windows client issue. Drop me a line (email) I would love to swap
stories with you.)

My problems have been around since the begining of September. I have 1 user
a day get a disconnected network drive. This particular drive is mapped to
z: in the AD user and Computers snapin. A simple reboot fixes the issue.
Win 2000 clients did not have this issue. Most of the time things work well
but... See my posts other posts for more detailed information. For me I am
wondering if
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;330519
is really not as fixed as they say it is in SP2?
