username:password, how to fix registry to allow this to work again?

B

Bob T

In the latest security fixes & SP4, the ability to
authenticate with username:password@www...
was stopped.

I want to return the registry to the old way.
I thought there was a KB on this but couldn't find it.

Any help on the KB/URL to look at or how to do it?

thanks,
bob

Yes, I read this official announcement. This only tells how to fix in programs but not in web applications.

Although it mentioned using Cookies, but Cookies cannot replace the login dialog box. If I want to replace a login dialog box by a login webpage to enter Exchange or Sharepoint Portal. What should we do?
