Userinit Logon Application

Pop ups rendered my client's XP unusable. We installed
and ran Spy Assasin and Spy Hunter from Ad-aware. The
pop ups are gone, but so is the start menu, the desktop,
etc. When we try to logon, we get this message:

Userinit Logon Application has encountered a problem and
needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Help, please, anyone?

from what I found out is that what was rendering your XP
Computer unusable is or has changed a registry modifys a
Key which is preventing you from logging on, that being
'Userinit'. So I guess the fix for this is to do
a 'Install Repair'

Windows XP Repair install....Have XP CD and CD KEY
Ready...
In your Bios change (tapping on the Delete key as soon
as start up begins)Change Boot order to CDROM first and
your hard drive second. Exit out saving change and with
your XP Install disk in the CDRom Restart your computer.
You will get Press Any Key.......Message, do so. "To set
up Windows now" press Enter and when you get
a "Welcome....' on the screen after you read the EULA
press F8. It tells you all this on the screen as your
going along ......When you have selected Windows XP as
your Current installation press "R" for Repair. Keep up
with what you are instructed.
When your Repair is completed make sure and turn your
Windows XP Internet Connection Firewall on first thing. I
would also install and run AntiVirus as what messed you
up might still be around. Hopefully the repair works as
your files should still be there and you can get to work
cleaning house of the nastys.
These or this one anyway is a stand-alone utility used to
detect and remove specific viruses. It is not a
substitute for full anti-virus protection, but rather a
tool users when dealing with an infected system.
