Userenv Errors

Anyone getting the Userenv error regarding the registry
unable to unload the users roaming profile?

This is typically caused by improper DNS settings. There have been fixes in
the Service Packs. Try installing SP4, that has worked for me. Also giving
the user the "Owner" role on their ntuser.dat has worked for me as well.

goto
Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs > Change/Remove Programs

and see if Q329170 is listed as an update if it is remove it.

plus

start > run > gpedit.msc > Computer Configuration> Administrative
Template
System > Logon > Maximum retries to unload and update user
profile ... set
enabled and to say 5 ... default if not configured is 60!!
(this only allows faster shutdown .. the error in event viewer
will still pop up)

There appears to be a hotfix available from MS (thanks Neo)
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;814770

but you will have to telephone MS to order it.
