User1 can print from Vista Laptop but not User2

One user account can print from Vista laptop to printer hooked up to an XP
computer but the other can't.

Same workgroup name, identical user account setups on all computers.

On Vista user account that cannot print to remote printer, the printer can
be seen.

Various error messages I get:

When clicking on printer in network device list: "Windows cannot connect to
the printer. Access is denied.

When trying to find a printer from Word printer dialog: "Active directory
somain services is currently unavailable.

When trying to add a printer: Permission denied

I have set this account up as both an administrator and as standard. Neither
work.

Make sure that primer is shared. it seems it is. There might be a way to set
the second user as the one who is the share beneficiary. I do not quite
recall.

Another option is to check the first user's rights and assign the same
rights to the other one.

And yet, you can create a special group "Users of Network Printers." Define
this groups in Local Users And Groups GUI. Add to this group the first user,
the second one and assign full permission to this group, not individual user
at each printer which they should be able to access.. This will solve your
problem wholesale.

Thanks Alex, but I can't find the terms/actions you suggest after doing a
search. I can't even edit a group policy.

Definitely will need a step-by-step solution.

Create a user account/password on the XP computer that has the printer
attached to it that matches the User2 on the other computer.
