What you mean by you set yourself as a User? did you have all privileges or
a normal user?.
You need to assign yourself as Administrator and then delete His Account and
it's folders.
Otherwise do you mean He named the computer after Him and you need now to
change that or what you want to achieve exactly Steve?.

I am Administrator with all priviledges. Computer is named after him. He's
a great son but I'd like to eliminate all references to him on this machine.

Open the run command by clicking Start >> Run and type in:
regedit.exe click [OK] or Hit Enter on your Keyboard.
On the Registry Editor locate the Key Mentioned like this:
[-] HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current
Version\RegisteredOwner = and change the Name to what you have in Mind then
after finish close the Registry and Reboot the machine.

You can change the Computer Name in Control Panel / System / Computer Name
(tab) if that's what you're trying to do.

Or run the Network Setup Wizard, if you have a network. It will ask you for
the Computer Name and Workgroup name
during its run..

nass, would your registry hack also change the above, or does he need to do
both?

With second-hand computers, especially if acquired from strangers
but perhaps even if acquired from a family member or friend, your wisest
course of action would probably be to format the hard drives and start
fresh. You don't want to get in trouble because the original owner may
have filled the hard drive with kiddie porn, or have problems because
the original owner downloaded/installed viruses or other malware.

To fix the "Registered to" information for WinNT/2K/XP, you can use
Start > Run > Regedit.exe to edit:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\RegisteredOwner

and:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current
Version\RegisteredOrganization

How this will affect the name displayed in previously installed
applications will vary depending upon each individual program; some
read the registered owner information dynamically, while others read
it only during installation.

The user profile folders (C:\Documents and Settings\Username)
_cannot_ be renamed, even if the associated user account has been.
So, your best course of action would be to log on using the built-in
Administrator account, create a new user account, with the username
desired. You can then delete the old user account(s).

If you're trying to delete that folder from within Windows Explorer,
than what you're seeing is normal. Instead, log in using an account
with administrative privileges, right-click My Computer > Properties >
Advanced > User Profiles - Settings, high-light the desired user
account, and click delete. This will remove the user profile folders.

When I started this exercise I created a User account, "Me", with
administrative priviledges. I then deleted "Son" as a User.
His folder is still hanging around, claims to be a system folder and won't
let me delete it.
