Hello,

I'm using EPSON Scan version 3.04F to scan some documents to file.

The software defaults to My Images (if that's what it is in English). It
offers the option to send the images to another directory, but when I create
and select one it says I don't have the right to write files to it.

It's my computer. I'm the only user and I'm logged in as an administrator (I
know you shouldn't do this, but how else can you work with V*sta).

Why should I have to consult MS or a NG to find out how to obtain permission
to use my computer?

Regards

Hi,

"Where" precisely are you creating this folder? Certain directories,
including "Program Files", are protected from being written to as a security
measure. A user should be working within either their own user profile, or
in the public one. Writing to protected directories requires deliberate
elevation, even for an administrator account.

The folder is on a second hard disk, in a directory structure created by
myself.

There is absolutely no reason why the application or the OS should
intervene.

Understood.

intervene.

I don't disagree, but obviously there is some reason that it is. I'm trying
to help you decipher why.

Is the program installed to that directory?
Have you tried altering permissions on it to give your user account full
control?

1/ If you made the folder, check that you have 'full control'

2/ Check also that the folder is not inheriting restricted permissions from
its parent (default)
