User Profiles

How does one get rid of user profiles. I reinstalled XP, and now I have
seven user profiles cluttering up things. I would happily get rid of all but
one, but I suppose I have to put up with an administrator profile. But I
would really appreciate information on how I can get rid of the rest.

While we're at it, why have one labeled default user and another labeled
default user.WINDOWS, and one labeled all users and another labeled all
users.WINDOWS?

Control Panel, User Accounts = user profiles

Going through Control Panel is the safe way to manage accounts.

FYI - if you right-click My Computer, click Manage in the context
menu, expand Local Users and Groups, click Users, and the full list of
***NETWORK*** users is displayed on the right pane. These profiles
are only use if you have the "Server" service enabled, which is used
when you are connected to domain servers. On my home system "Server"
is disabled to save resources. You should be careful about deleting
any user in this area.

There are a couple of problems with your solution. First, in Control Panel,
under User Accounts, there are only two accounts - one with my name as
administrator, and Guest. I can't delete Guest, and there is no sign of the
other 6 profiles. I can't use Control Panel to delete a profile I can't find
in Control Panel.

Regarding the other solution, when I right click on My Computer and choose
"Manage," there is no reference to Local Users and Groups. The only
choices I am given are System Tools, Storage, and Services and Applications.
I checked the submenus for each of these, and there still is no reference to
Local Users.

I can't use this if I can't find it. Are you referring to some other OS -
I am using XP SP2.
