I had a user account called customerservice. I created a new user on our
domain called temp. I copied the user profile for customerservice to temp.
Everything looked the same as customerservices. Temp had no exchange mailbox
associated with it. When i recreated customerservice I tried to copy temp
profile to customerservice on each w2k machine and it appears it copies but
when i log on as customerservice it doesn't look like temp it looks like a
profile looks when a user logs on for the first time. Why is this an d how
can I do what I'm trying to do.

Hi,

I'd like to know How you copy the two profile? Please let me know this in
detail.

It appears that the new customerservice uses an new SID and specified
another USERPROFILE path. I'd like to suggest you use a tool called User
State Migration Tool (USMT) to transfer user profile. Please refer to
following link:

I use local security policcies (GPO's) to lock down the pC's. When I migrate
the user profile will they automatical inhereit what policies are in effect
of the new PC.

Hi,

Basically,USMT migrate most of the user's system settings including:
Dial-up Networking (DUN)/Remote Access Service (RAS)
Display settings (wallpapers, colors, fonts)
Internet Explorer 4.x or 5.x settings
Accessibility settings
Mapped drives
Network printers
Folder options

So, it will inhereit the group policy.

However, since the group policy also stored in registry keys, you can alter
the state information to migrate by modifying the migration rule .inf files
to include or exclude specific files, folders, registry keys, or even
registry trees.
