User Profiles Migration

M

Manuel Lee

I´m trying to migrate the an user profile from a domain account to a user
profile on a local account on windows XP. When i try to copy the
information from one profile to another, i get an error on access denied
even as i configure permissions for the administrator account on the
original profile. The files that are not allow to copy are those in the
local configuration TEMP folder. I also have Mcafee total protection
installed on the computer. Could it be that the antivirus put those files
on quarantine and that´s why i´m not allow to copy the profile or is there
something else?

Thanks

Manuel

as an administrator, take ownership of the profile main folder and then

Hi,

It appears that the user profile still take ownership of some resource, you
can boot into Safe Mode to try again.

Hi,

No, that is proved that some resources are managed by other instance. My
suggestions:

1. Login as an Administrator and take ownership of the profile main folder.
To do this, right click the folder -> Properties -> Security -> Advanced ->
Owner and please make sure it applies to all sub folder.
2. Stop Anti - Virus software to see the results.
3. Perfor a clean boot. To boot into Clean Boot environment:

1. Click Start, click Run, type "msconfig" (without the quotation marks) in
the Open box, and then click OK.
2. In the Startup tab, click the "Disable All" button.
3. In the Services tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" checkbox,
and then click the "Disable All" button.
4. Click OK and restart your computer.
