User Not Prompted To Update Links In Excel 2007 Notification Enabl

Hello,
We are in the process of running a pilot group that is testing Office 2007.
One of our Excel testers has come across a problem related to linking to
external content. In the Excel 2003, the user was prompted to Update Links
when loading this spreadsheet - this no longer happens.

These are steps that we have taken to resolved:
-We have already selected the "Ask To Update Automatic Links" checkbox.
-We have already edited the start up and indicated that user will decide to
update links.
-We have also gone into the trust center settings, under External Content
and indicated that we wanted to Prompt User for automatica update for
Workbook Links
-We also tried opening all of the source files and then opening the workbook.

From what I have read, this should work. Any ideas?

I am having the same issue with excel 2007. Manually selecting each linked
cell and hitting enter seems to update the values but this is not an ideal
solution.

I too have the identical problem. It is, of course, possible to update links in the data group, edit links window but I want to be certain [in some instances] that links are NOT updated when I open the file containing the links. Without the prompt I'm never sure if updating took place or not. Also, in the edit links window, the automatic button is on and the manual button grayed out. I have seen this on several forums but no solutions are posted. Anyone???
