User names

When the supplier setup my new computer they made a User
called OEM. I would like to rename this to my own name.
Is this possible or will I have to make a new user and
then delete the OEM user. Will all my documents, etc be
available to my new user name.

Set up a new user and copy the settings across. That's the easy way.

You should just make a new user with whatever name suits you. Do this
from the User Accounts applet in Control Panel. Don't bother deleting
the OEM user - it isn't hurting anything and you can always use it for
diagnostic purposes in the future if you need to. After you've created
your new user (you), then copy over the data from the OEM account to
your new account. You may need to take ownership of the data - look up
"take ownership" in XP's Help & Support.

1) Create a new account
2) Logon to that account to create and initialize the profile
3) Logon to an admin account that isn't the account being copied to or from
4) Open the System control panel
5) Click the Advanced tab
6) Click Settings under User Profiles
7) Select a profile to copy from [OEM profile]
8) Click Copy To
9) Type or browse to the profile to copy to (C:\Documents and Settings\user)
