When the supplier setup Win XP Home on my new machine
they made a username OEM. I would like to change this to
my proper name and also switch all the files and programs
to the new name. Can anyone suggest how this might be
done.

Hi

See if the following link to MVP Doug Knox's web page helps:

Create a new user with the correct name. (control panel, user accounts)
Delete your old user. (control panel, user accounts)
XP asks if you want to save files, say yes. When it's done move the file
into my documents or other folders as needed. (or you can move your
documents and stuff manually before deleting the old account)

From the RUN line type REGEDIT hit enter. Then do a FIND (F3) and type in
OEM and then when it comes back with the locations change them to your own
name. You will have to be careful in the Registry and only change the
instance of OEM where its not in relation to the serial number of the
product CD.

You double click on the instance and change it then exit out.
