I am using WinXP with SP-2.

I would like to have windows open without displaying my name and asking for
a password. I used TweekUI to remove my name from the welcome screen and it
works fine for startup. However, when returning from Standby mode, an empty
welcome screen appears with nowhere to click and I can't get back to
Windows. I have to re-boot.

How can I configure my computer so I don't have to enter my password on boot
or on returning from Standby? I am the only user, and I did not create a
password during Windows XP installation.

You can use the following steps to enable automatic logon:

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type: control userpasswords2 , and then click OK.
3. In the dialog box that appears, clear the "Users must enter a user name
and password to use this computer" check box, and then click OK.

Thanks for the input. I un-checked the "users must enter...." box and the
computer boots ok. However, when returning from the standby mode, I get a
screen where I have to click my user name to get to the desktop. How can I
stop this screen?

Right-click on your Desktop and select:
Properties > Screensaver 'tab', then uncheck
the box next to "On resume, password protect",
then click Apply.

Go to the Power Management applet in Control Panel and click on the
Advanced tab. You will see a box to "Prompt for password when computer
resumes from standby". Uncheck the box, Apply and OK out.
