User - My Doucuments Folder

Anyone able to help?
I have been trying to network my laptop and desktop.
Kept getting error message so basically I reloaded my
XP. Unfortunately I have discovered after that I am not
able to get into my documents folder as it was private
under my user name.
Am I able to get into it or am I fighting a lost cause?
My user section has an area marked down as `unknown' but
I can't get into it.....
Can anyone save a poor soul???

I use ftp for intra net transfers. MyBreifcase is the idea
of share files etc.. although using a SSH of somesort you
should be able to access any location on the comp. If you
set up your workgroup you should be able to have network
priveleges for files marked to be shared. Also NTFS
generally is not readable by non network systems if you
have a different os going on like say ME or 98 etc.. on
the laptop.
