Hi all,

I have Microsoft Exchange POP3 5.0 on Microsoft Windows Server 2003
Enterprise Edition Sevice Pack 1 and my users use Microsoft Outlook
2007.

I've got problem with a user mailbox who cannot receive mail from
external but she can receive mail in the local and can send mail to
both external and in the local. Other users have no problem.

Anyone, could you please help me with this?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks in advance,

Susan

Just to make sure I'm reading this right.

It is an Exchange server and a user connecting to it can't receive mails
from the Internet, but can receive from other Exchange users?

Do the messages even make it to the server? If you connect directly to the
mailbox using Outlook or OWA, can you see the messages?

Yes, you're right. This user can not receive mail from
example:[email protected] but can receive mail from other exchange user
in the local.

The message in server said: [Mailbox: (e-mail address removed)] Mailbox login
failed. Invalid user id and/or password (or mailbox is in use).

The message in the Outlook user after send/receive all said: Task
'Microsoft Exchange' reported error (0x80190193): 'The operation
failed.'

Could you please help me with this?

Thanks so much in advance.

0x80190193 is an HTTP '403' error, and is generally caused by a proxy server
interfering, or the client not properly configured to use an existing proxy
server.

The Client Diagnostic Tool will, among other things, display the current
proxy configuration for WinHTTP. You can also get this by using the
proxycfg.exe utility.

Where did this message come up in the server?

It gets this all the time? I'm a little confused here now. Lets start with
that error above, the Mailbox login failed.

What steps are you doing to produce that error message?

Also, what happens when a user from a different domain tries to email this
new user?

I don't know what is happening but I just seen that message in the
server. And this user can not receive mail from other domains.

Let's start from scratch, ok?

You have a user who can't get mail from the Internet.

What happens when someone mails that user from an external address? Create
a hotmail account and try for yourself. Do you get a message back saying
that delivery failed?

Ok, well, other users in the same domain can get email? I'm still a little
confused by your use of the phrase 'Exchange POP3 5.0' because that particular
string of terms makes no sense.

So, let's assume other users in the same domain name can get email.

How is your domain name set up receive email? Does it get directly sent
to the Exchange server, or does it go to a server at your ISP and you're
using the POP3 connector in SBS to download it?

For sure other users in the same domain can get e-mail as normal.
Except that user who can not receive e-mail from outside.

We have Webmail and we use Exchang Pop3 (mail server in local domain)
to download mail by using ISP then it routes to MS. Exchnage after
that it forward to each user's mailboxes (Outlook 2007).

So, what is the step should I solve this issue?

Thanks,

Susan

If you connect directly to the POP server, is the mail there? If it isn't,
you should probably talk to the ISP to try and figure out why mail isn't
getting there.

If it is there, it sounds like you should probably post to microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs
to troubleshoot why the POP connector isn't downloading the messages. When
you post over there, be sure to specify exactly what version of SBS you're
using, because, again, Exchange POP3 5.0 isn't really a product. You'll
want to explain that you've created a new user and you're trying to download
messages using the POP connector and this new user is not getting their mail
downloaded from the server.
