i have jst reinstalled my XP home edition OS and am unable to activate the
welcome screen option from teh user accounts settings on the control panel.
When i click on "change the way users log on or off" i get an error message
"the specified module could not be found". I searched online and found this
error code, but not in the context of the user accounts properties.

Any ideas???? thanks in advance!

rae79,

Your system has a third-party Gina DLL entry set, but the actual module is
missing. Download and apply this fix:

http://windowsxp.mvps.org/reg/ginadll.reg

To set it manually, see the following KB article:
The Default Windows Logon Interface May Not Appear After Installing
Third-Party Program

Thank you for the reply Ramesh. Unfotunately, the fix below did not resolve
the issue, i even checked the registery (after running the fix) to manually
delete the string, but it wasnt there and the error message continues to come
up.

The good news is that i found an alternative solution at your website where
i downloaded the Tweak program and set the autologon options. The problem is
still there, but this work around is solution enough for me until the next
reformat!

Thank you very much for your help and your very informative website.
