user level security in access across a Network

I have finally managed to set up user security on my main Computer and would
like to know if I have to do exactly the same on each remote that is linked
to this data base? I have linked the Main Data base on a remote to the
network, but when I start the data base, it goes straight into it without any
security. I was wondering if I copy the security MDW file onto the remote
will this work?
Thanks for any help

There are two issues here. First, you should not modify the default
"system.mdw" but create a new custom WIF which you would typically store in
a public folder for your users to use. You should also not join your custom
workgroup by default but stay joined to the unmodified "system.mdw" and join
your custom WIF using the "wrkgrp" command line switch.

Second, if you can open your mdb from any PC without joining your custom WIF
then you have not completed securing your app. There's a link to the Access
security FAQ on my website, the FAQ is essential reading and you should
follow all steps in the order stated and omit nothing.

Good luck.

Your link to FAQ keeps timing out
