cannot bring up user guide. clicking on the user guide
icon responds with "cannot find acroread.exe which is
needed to access user guide"
 
This is nothing to do with Windows. Did you install Adobe Acrobat Reader. You probably need to. User Guide is also nothing to do with windows - maybe it's for a piece of hardware or software you bought. If so Acrobat is usually on the CDRom.
