I just started using Outlook 2003 and don't understand why it doesn't
support User Groups. I still need to use Outlook Express to access them.
Am I missing something or is this the way it's supposed to be? It just
seems silly that Outlook 2003 doesn't support them.

The equivalent in Outlook 2003 is a distribution list. If you select File >
New > Distribution List, the item will be stored in the contacts folder.

Newsgroups is not supported in Microsoft Outlook. That chore is left to
Outlook Express.

You're not missing out on anything. Outlook does not support NewsGroups/Usenet/NNTP. Its hard to believe but I read somewhere that it was because corporates wanted this feature omitted from the Office Suite because employees were using it too much..

Hard to understand, since employees are most likely to surf the web and use web-based readers for NNTP.. but anyway.. that's the story AFAIK.

SupportX.

You can access these groups in Outlook if you select Outlook Express as your
Newsgroups program in Internet Options, Programs. OL uses the OE newsreader.

That's how I have it set up, but I don't see how to add a News Group that
uses a NNTP Server. Can you help?
