user folder under document and settings cannot be renamed

i bought a new laptop with XP pro. There was one user already created. I was able to rename that user logon name but a folder with that name is under documents and settings. i cannot rename that folder, because it is apparently a system folder Windows needs to function.

Create a new user, so that a proper folder is created in DOCUMENTS AND
SETTINGS. Logon as this new user, then logoff all users and log on as
the Administrator from the Safe Mode. Copy the old profile to the new
user from the Control Panel > System > Advanced > User profiles.
