User Directories - DC or Member server

Where is the best place to have user directories reside ? Member
server or DC ? Thanks,

Wherever you have the greatest redundancy and backup capacity. If your
DC is idling, no reason not to put them there. If it's working hard, you
won't want to burden it with a greater load.

I really don't like putting all of my eggs in one basket. If you have
a separate member server that can be used to host the user directories
this is preferable. DCs should really be only used for the single
purpose of functioning as DCs.

As usual I appreciate the feedback. Thank you very much. If the DCs
are just going to authenticate users (we have 1 main controller for
each site and 1 backup for each site where there is 4,500 users
between the 2 sites) we should use our less powerful servers. Thanks
again everyone.
