User-defined fields in Journal

I have created a new field in Journal, called TagField, as Type Text. So the
fields I am currently viewing in Journal are Entry Type, Subject, Start,
Contact, and TagField. How do I input text into this new field? When I open
an existing journal item, or a new journal item, there is no input box for
this new field.

Obviously you need to add a control for that, probably a textbox. See the
forms information at www.outlookcode.com for information on designing and
publishing forms.

There's no other way, and it's as complex as you make it. Once you grasp the
basics you can be very simple or get quite complex. Review the information
at the link I supplied and see what you need to do.

Additionally to Ken, if you do not need to see the information in the form
of the JournalItem, you can simply add the text in the folder view.
