User "ASP.NET Machine A"?

D

Dereck L. Dietz

I had to reboot my computer this morning and, for the first time ever, it
asked me to choose an account.

Since I never created any account other than the Admin account I was stunned
and flabergasted. After I rebooted I looked in the console under User
Accounts and found a completely new one I never created called "ASP.NET
Machine A".

The only software I installed since my last reboot was the .net Framework
1.1 in order to be able to run a utility for a game and updated my Norton's
Anti-Virus subscription.

Did the install of the .net Framework create that user account and, if so,
will there be any problems if I delete that user account? This is my own
personal home computer and I don't want more accounts on this than just the
one so it will boot up without asking what account to use.

Thanks.

Visit the Windows Update web site and download the available critical update
for .NET Framework. After installing it and rebooting, the Welcome Screen
will no longer appear if you do not have a password for your account.

The Welcome to Windows screen appears when you start Windows XP
after you install the .NET Framework 1.1
