I was trying to setup a new admin account for myself to
replace some files I wanted. I changed my old account to
limited intending to delet it once I restarted my
computer, but I ended up signing back on under this
limited account instead of the new computer administrator
one. What can I do to bypass this problem so that I will
have total control of my computer.

I REALLY NEED SOME HELP PLEASE1111111

Boot up in Safe Mode (hit F8 as you start up) and log on as The
Administrator. (If your copy of XP was pre-installed, then unless you have
assigned it a password, the password is blank)

In addition to my previous post, these are what I have done so far

1) update the virus definitions

2) run a full system scan. The name and location of the infected files are

c:\WINDOWS\system\mcireg.dll (Keylogger.Trojan
c:\WINDOWS\system\svchost.ex (Bloodhound.Packed
c:\Program Files\Outlook Express\oemig54b+.exe (Download.Trojan
c:\WINDOWS\svchost.exe (Bloodhound.Packed

I have quarantined the viruses

I have also open the Registry Editor and select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ru
to look for the infected files on the right pane, but only 1 infected files was found, that is, svchost.exe

I did not delete the svchost.exe file

I have also tried to backup my entire windows XP registry by clicking start - Programs - Accessories - System Tools - and look for the word Backup, but cannot be found. Where could it be

Kindly assist

After you are automatically logged on to your account with limite
permissions after re-booting click Start, Logoff. Once logged off yo
can select the new admin account that you created and log into it.

I did not delete the svchost.exe file.

The XP file named svchost.exe normally resides in Windows\System32 and
there is a backup copy in Windows\System32\dllcache.

It's likely that the 2 that you have (one in Windows and one in
Windows\System) are "pretenders" - virus files masquerading as system
files.

Your antivirus program identified several things by name. Have you been to
their website to look up each of those names? Suggest that you do so as
there are often additional cleaning steps that must be performed by the
user. Those steps will be outlined in the online documentation.
