User Accounts

On its own, XP created a new user account with a new
name, wiping out the items contained in that user
account. The files and settings for the wiped-out user
account were not deleted but remain in a folder under
Documents and Settings. Is there any way to point that
user account back to the wiped-out one? I was able to
drag the data files back over but am trying to recreate
the Outlook Express email files.

Any ideas?

What is the name of the new account? XP cannot do this "on its own".
Either someone using the computer did it, or perhaps you have a virus
and/or the machine has been compromised. Please repost with more
information about the account name and properties, as well as what
antivirus and firewall programs you are using.

You can copy information from the old to the new.

The new account is a backup of the old account. We run
Norton anti-virus 2003 and Spy Sweeper. I think what
happened is we were running Spy Sweeper on one user
account. While that was running, we tried to switch over
to the other user account, and that's when the problem
happened.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
