Delete User Accounts And Files In Windows XP Home

T

tkbirdie

I had to recreate a user account. The original account deleted, but the
files are still on the computer. After creating the new account, I tried to
delete the files, but it would not let me. Recreating the account did not
create any new settings, it just brought back the old settings, such as my IE
home page, user account picture. The files are in the Documents and Settings
folder.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Was the name of the user profile identical to the one deleted?

Yes, it was. Should I have created a new account with a different name and
then deleted it?

I also tried deleting the files before I created the new user profile, and
they still would not delete.

I do not know but it would be sensible to try a different name. Just
adding a letter or number will serve the purpose.

When you want to delete a user, right click on my computer, go to
properties, and select advanced. in the User profiles box, click Settings.
Select a profile and delete it. It will delete everything in that profile.
