User Account Problem

Recently I mistakenly changed my user account to "Limited" and lost the
ability to be administrator on my personal computer using Windows XP
Professional SP2.
I am the only user of this machine and need to get Microsoft updates again,
but am unable to as the machine thinks I don't have the administrator rights.
How do I correct this? I thought about reinstalling Windows but a caution
message warned that I would lose files if I continued.....

Use the built-in Administrator account, hit Ctrl-Alt-Del twice and login as
Administrator, the password should be a blank unless you explicitly put a
password on this account. If the Administrator account has a password that
you have forgotten then these links may help :-

How to Log On to Windows XP If You Forget Your Password or Your
Password Expires

Or go to http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/ . There you will find
zip files that will let you create boot floppy disks or bootable CDs
that will enable you to reset any system password on an NT class
operating system

Hey Thanks Greenie!!!!
From another thread, I restarted Windows with the F8 key depressed and went
to Safe Start. Then I logged in as Administrator and fixed the Limited user
account.
All is well now and I will save your suggestions for future goofs...
Thanx again...Bill

My situation started when I was trying to change my computer to have a
Welcome Screen, which I noticed wasn't on my Windows XP Media Centre Edition
'05. I ask a friend (who know computers), and when I went into my Control
Panel. I had 4 user accounts. One being the one with all my info. (resumes,
friend's resumes, work-related things of that nature), when we went to change
the setting in the User account, a warning emerged: Client Services for
Netware has disabled the Welcome Screen & Fast User Switching. To restore
these features, you must uninstall Client Services for Netware. So, telling
my friend he told me to uninstall it in Network Connections and then
properties. Doing so, I restarted the computer and low and behold my Welcome
Screen appeared. Unfortunately, my User Account (when going into Control
Panel) only showed three. The one missing was the vital User Account with all
my information. I was hoping is there any humanly or logically way of
retreiving my User Account with all my vital informations that is duely
needed. Please Help me!!!
