user account denied

i took ownership of a user account and transfered some files which worked
fine ....then when logging on to that user account the desktop icons
disappeared except for recycle icon.
When i tried access from start menu i got access denied.

Also noticed that this user account has a hand holding it under user icon in
windows explorer. What does that mean?

That particular user should have "Full Control" over their profile folder.

Which means the folder is shared.

what would be the reason for the icons not present on desktop?
i assume this has to do with sharing / security issues?
