Unable to delete Office 2007 User Account

Sharron

Just installed Office 2007. Noticed a glitch in a User Account when switching
to another User. System freezes, icons disappear. Have to reboot. Happened 2
or 3 times. Tried to delete User Account that created the problem. System
freezes each time I get to the final delete command. Have to re-boot. How
can I get rid of this account? Norton Help confirms no virus.

norton may be
the problem.

Norton says they can't complete a full system scan because of corrupted files
and that my problem is in the op system. Sys is now being repaired by Dell
tech with new hard drive and mother board. If corrupted documents were saved
in external hard drive, can they damage system when restored? Is there a way
I can determine which documents are corrupted before opening them.

the subject "system corruption"
is subjective to interpretation.

if the tech is going to replace
the hard drive and or the
motherboard, then these
components are not termed
as being "corrupt".

hardware components are
either functional or faulty,
completely or intermittently.

however, basically those
files on the external drive
should not corrupt your
file system, unless any
of them are malware.

but regular files that were
scanned as safe won't
corrupt the file system
again.

on the other hand, if any
of the files on the external
drive were processed with
a corrupted file system,

then they may be corrupted.

if they are, then they will
simply not open when you
try them out.

here is more info on
file system corruption
and the method to fix
issues:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315265

unfortunately, norton is
known to cause issues
for the operating system.

which is why I don't recommend
that a.v..

did you contact norton to
find out about that error
message and the method
required to resolve it?

I have to concur with db on this. Norton is your culprit on this issue. Seen this
same issue before quite a few times when OP's posted this same issue in the office
newsgroups.

Norton strikes again. Get rid of it and use something else

db - thank you for the explanation. easy to understand and reassuring.
Peter, thanks to you, too.
Will soon launch a new website. security is my greatest concern. if not
Norton, what security software do you have most confidence in for online
business?
Delay in response to your posts due to problems with sign-in. not an
uncommon problem right now, i see. Microsoft working on it.
