User Account Access?

I was hit by some sort of problem last night ater trying
to install a new Theme. All my drop down menus are now
blacked out with no text visible so I can't ene pull up
the desktop properties to change anything (well I can but
I can't read anything becasue everything is blacked out)
Tried all the usual safe mode's, etc with no success.
So I recovered Windows (reinstalled) and got a new
account, when I run the new account the screen is
perfectly ok but I can't access the documents I created in
my other account. When I log back into the old account the
screen is back to black again so I can't do anything
there, so is there any way I can get access to my old
accounts documents from my new one ??
