Bill

Hi,
I hope someone can answer this question.

I have three HD "C"40G, "D"80G and "E"120G.
"C" is the Operating System and Aplications disk.
"D" is the data disk and,
"E" is the backup disk.

Yesterday after moving almost everything off of "E" and
deleting any left folders, I noticed that rather than the
114G I started with I only had 104G, 11G were used, by
what. I just moved and deleted everything. After using
Maxtor 3 and doing a partion and reformat, I saw 114G.

What was the 10G left on the disk I could not see?
All the view options were set to see, hiden folders and
systems folders.

When you delete, Bill, the space on the disc is not actually vacated. It is
only made available to overwrite some time in the future.

Good luck,

Ed

Perhaps it was in the recycle bin on the drive. Did you empty it after
deleting your files?

More than likely system restore files, you could have turned off system
restore in system properties, re-booted then turned it back on again I
suspect that would have cleared all. You could have just formatted in
windows if you wanted a clean drive after moving your files.

Hope that helps
Neil

You mean if I have a 20G disc that is full and I delete
all the folders and file, properties will still tell me
the disk is full. Geees I hope not.
