hello all,

Basic question but frustrating - trying to to find how to allow my laptop
touchpad to "click and select". It is a new laptop and my previous laptop
allowed me to touch the pad to click and not have to use the buttons below
the pad.

What simple box am I am not seeing?

have you accessed your mouse control pad? there you should have a number of
options to set according to your preferences....

the option is not in the mouse control contol dialogue box - the options
there are clicker speed, reverse buttons, etc....

No device setting option in mouse properties

Thanks for taking time to reply...I appreciate it.

Try the following:

Control Panel -> Folder Options -> General page.
In the "Click items as follows" section, select "Single-click
to open an item (point to select)".
Click OK.

Good luck
