Use graphics created in Visio

What happened to the ability to cut and paste complex geometric shapes from
Visio into PowerPoint? Used to be you could paste, then right-click, choose
Visio object and Convert, now you have to Paste Special, embed Visio object,
then right-click, choose Visio object, convert and nothing happens. I have a
need to introduce accurate elements created in Autocad or Visio that aren't
easy to create or modify in PowerPoint. This used to work now it doesn't. A
workaround would be fine, but pasting the object as a picture gives me no
control.

Start by explaining with changed between "used to be" and "now".

I'm guessing you changed from one version of Visio or PPT to another, but you
don't say. I don't have Visio so probably can't help, but perhaps someone else
can. They'll need more information to go on though.

Current versions Visio 2007 and PPT 2007. Previous 2003 and 2003. In the
previous versions, I could create a complex graphic in Autocad if I needed
to, import and edit in Visio, then import and convert to PPT (where I could
then use PPT graphics or color options consistent with theme. The new color
options in PPT 2007 are great, trying to manipulate the graphic forms not so
good. I was wondering if anyone else might have figured it out.

While we wait for someone more Visiolly clueful than me to wander by, give this a
shot:

Copy the Visio object (select, press Ctrl+C)
Then use the arrowthingie beneath Paste and pick PasteSpecial.
See if there's an EMF or WMF option on the paste menu.
If so, choose it, then see if you can ungroup the result.
