use FTP to file on my frontpage site?

I want a staff person to be able to maintain files on one subweb that simply
archives files - I don't want to have to giver a copy of FP just to do that.
Is there a way around this?

If the site is ftp accessible sure.

Show them how to open the site in ftp mode in IE.

ftp://websitename.com

Then click File > Login as... and enter the user name and password.
Browse to the sub folder, sub web and simply drag and drop the file from the machine to the
web folder and release, and then select Move here or Copy here which ever is appropriate.

It can also be done by logging in using a link in Network places.
