use book.xlt when creating new Excel doc in Windows Explorer

I have a custom book.xlt and sheet.xlt in the C:\Program Files
\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\XLSTART folder. Excel does use that if I
click on the "New" toolbar button or use CTRL+N while inside Excel.
But if I create a new Excel document from Windows Explorer (right
click > New > Excel Worksheet), it uses the default template.

Is there a way to tell Excel to use my book.xlt when creating a new
Excel file in Windows Explorer? I'm using XP and Excel 2003.

Tested with Excel 2003...............

When you right-click>New>MS Excel Worksheet, the default workbook is based on

C:WINDOWS\SHELL\NEW\Excel9.xls............yes, Excel9.....

Make the modifications to that file to match your book.xlt template.

Save and try again with the right-click>new.

Do not move Book.xlt out of the XLSTART folder, you may still need it for
File>New and CTRL + n

sweet, it worked! you da man, I would've never figured that out. This
will save me so much time since I create most of my Excel files from
Windows Explorer.

Thanks for the feedback.

Just too much time on my hands and spent some of it one day experimenting.
