Cannot load book.xlt and sheet.xlt on start in Excel2010

I have some template including header and footer infor. For excel2003, I put
the book.xlt and sheet.xlt in the C:\Program files\Microsfot Office
XXX\XLSTART folder. when i open excel, it'll automatically load these
templates files.

But when I do the same thing in Excel2010, the templates cannot be loaded
when i start excel2010.

I tried to put the book.xlt and sheet.xlt in "Program files\...\Xlstart"
and "Users\...\Roaming\Excel\Xlstart" these two folders, but it didn't work
at all.

Is there anything wrong with my operation?

How to make it?

thanks for your help!

Excel does not load those files automatically - it uses them as the template
for new workbooks or new sheets inserted into existing workbooks, when using
the commandbar button for "New" workbook or "Insert Worksheet"

Thank you for the reply!

Is excel2010 working in another way to use these templates files?

'coz those template files are used at the first open workbook in excel
2003 --- when we run excel 2003, the "book1" has used those templates.
but in excel 2010, when we run excel 2010, the "book1" doesn't use those
template files. as you said, the template "sheet.xlt" can only applied after
"insert worksheet".

why not use the book.xlt and sheet.xlt for the book1?

Try saving your template to the file:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\XLSTART\book.xltm

Good Luck.
