USBHUB Unknown Device

this is a new machine. The list of usb hubs for a front usb port show in
device mgr as "unknown device".

It has no drivers installed. I have tried all the usual such as uninstall,
search for drivers online, on XP disk, etc etc.

How do i fix this?
 
assume you have a usb hub plugged into your usb port ..

which version of Xp are you running ...

is your port usb1 and maybe your hub is usb 2 ?
