I have a powered USB2 hub attached to my computer that is running XP. To this
was connected an external hard drive, printer and an IPod lead.
It worked well for months. Then all of a sudden it stopped working and gave
the message "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has
malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it". It then appears in the
Device manager as an unknown device.
To fix this I have tried the following (all of which have made no difference):
Plugged hub into spare USB port at back of computer.
Replaced hub with a spare hub (D-Link DUB-H7).
Disconnected hub & power, rebooted and re-attached hub.
Un-intalled "unknown device" and repeated steps above.
Un-installed "SiS PCI to USB Enhanced Host Controller" and allowed windows
to re-install.
Installed Hotfix found in article 920875.
I have searched the Knowledge base as well as a Google search on Groups.
It would appear lots of people have had a similar problem but none of the
posts solved my problem.
Has anyone got any other ideas?
