I have USB1.0 built on my mainboard so I bought a USB2 PCI card.
I also bought a USB2 hub and USB2 extension cable (the hub needs it).
I got the WinXP message saying the device could run faster on a USB2
port but it only showed up once.
I want to verify that the extension cable is USB2.

What does the paperwork that came with the extension cable say???

Usually, the USB 2 hubs come with a power supply and a standard 6 foot USB 2
cable.

Now, this problem has been asked before, in the newsgroup. It seems to be a
problem with XP, SP1(a) and SP2. To fix, disconnect every USB device from
all USB ports (1.01 and 2.0). Then, in Device Manager, under the USB
section, remove all USB hubs, root hubs, USB ports and "enhanced" USB
controller. Then reboot and XP should re-detect the USB ports/hubs
correctly.

Note: 'Enhanced" USB controllers are the USB 2.0 ports.
