usb hub problem, connected but unable to see devices

bought a taurus usb2 mini hub new from store

it lights up when connected to usb port with cable

according to device manager its functioning

yet i am unable to see an devices hooked up to it

appreciate any suggestions how to fix problem

More of a hardware question really. You'd probably get a better response
from the hardware boys and girls in

microsoft.public.windowsxp.hardware

but AFAIK you have to connect the mini hub directly to the pc rather than on
the end of a cable (but don't quote me on that).
