USB to RS232 not creating a COM port

When upgrading to a new computer we found that it had 8 USB ports but only one RS232 port
Our current equipment requires 2 RS232 ports and the only thing I could find to convert from USB to RS232 has no drivers and claims to be Win2000 compatible "No Driver Needed"

The problem is that even though the device is detected and installed in the "Human Interface Devices" as "USB to Serial", it doesn't create a COM port

Does anyone know of a way to create a COM port and tie it to the driver? Or am I going in the wrong direction

Thanks

Why don't you simply add an expansion card for extra RS232 port?

Thanks, that was my next choice. I had to order one and it will be a couple of days before I get it
I wanted to make sure it wasn't something I was missing (besides a bogus adapter). :

Huh

All the USB-SER cables I've tried require
a driver, and created a COM port

Take yours back, and try a different brand

This one works under W2K and creates a COM por
and comes with a driver CD
