I have a Logitech quickcam and if I use it the built in mic cuts the speakers
off and I have to uninstall the sound drivers restart and re install the
drivers to use the speakers.
HP sent me a link to Microsoft saying this was a known problem...any work
arounds?

Hi greatbeav,

I am assuming that you are using USB speakers. If so, you might be better
off getting some speakers that connect in the conventional way ie to the
speaker output port on your system. If you are already using conventional
speakers then you might need to update the drivers for your Logitech quickcam
from the manufacturers website.

Nope, using standard speakers. I hear logitech hardware causing problems
across the board.
But microsoft had a known issue with USB shutting speakers down.....

Logitech QuickCam Pro 5000 with no problems here.

Have you right clicked on the Speaker icon in the Notification Area of the
Taskbar, selected Playback Devices, and made sure your Speakers are set as
Default, then Recording tab and set Logitech microphone as default?

Have you run the Logitech QuickCam software, click on the gears icon, click the
microphone icon and select your microphone and speaker defaults and used the
Audio Tuning Wizard?
