USB scanner and camera install problem

xp sp2 dell 4550 3 yrs old.
Had lexmark Z11 printer and older canon camera, everthing worked fine.
Printer died and got new camer for Xmass.
Uninstalled old printer.
Loaded new HP all-in-one 4315 printer/scanner/fax and get error message
during load "Windows can not load image for Install. Contact hardware vendor
for assistance." hit Cancel button, load continues, get same error couple of
more times during install. Hook-up USB cable when instructed, finish
loading, restart, pinter is there, but computer does not see scanner. Under
Imaging Devise hp scanner shows error 1, can not delete/reload/install
driver, because HP uses windows drivers.
Loaded new Canon camera, software goes in fine. Hookup camera, windows says
new device Canon camera found, no sofware will fine camera, Canons or others..
Windows can find old camera now either. Same error message as printer for
drivers.

Sometimes get error ballon that there was problem installing hardware, and
install wizard starts up and says it is looking for drivers, which it can not
find no matter what or whos disk I use.
Canon help guys have tried but have not been able to fix, they even sent me
another install disk...same problems.
HP guys have tried, we have re-installed, looked at regedit, they have no
idea, but they keep in touch and want me to call back to work on it some more.
Uninstall may or may not have anything to do with problem. Windows sees
printer but not scanner or camera, leads me to drivers, espically with the
drive error 1 message.
Have cleaned out both printer and camera and tried installing just one. No
luck, most ofter get install wizard asking for disk and doing search for what
it can not find.

How do I fix, check windows drivers, reinstall drivers, what and how.

Since you mention a previously installed Lexmark printer, see if this helps:
