After installing an IOGear hub, USB on my Vista Home Premium has
become very spotty. A SD card reader doesn't work, a camera doesn't
work, a phone doesn't work, a printer does work, that kind of thing.
I have tried the various instructions about uninstalling hubs. No
luck. I downloaded the cumulative update 941600, it said it doesn't
apply to my system.
Is there a way I can just wipe all USB support "down to the studs" as
it were, so I can get my devices back? I'd like to delete every single
USB driver added, ever. Uninstall from Device Manager doesn't work --
the bad drivers are just added back. System Restore only has restore
points to a day ago, not far enough back, so that won't work.
Please help! And why, oh why, did they release Vista with such
horrible USB support? The Web is rife with complaints just like mine.
Thanks.
